Connecting the ZEC (ZEC UI)

For each ZEC component that has been configured in ZEN Master, you will need to configure the connection of the ZEC (using its ZEC UI) to ZEN Master. This will use the configured SSH keys to enable the actual connection.

To connect the ZEC Manually:

  1. In the ZEN Master UI, in the main navigation, click Zixi Edge Devices.
  2. Select the ZEC that you would like to connect.
  3. In the Details tab at the bottom of the screen, click on the download link for the SSH Key.

  4. In the Configuration section, you will find your personal connection configuration settings for use with ZEC. You will use these settings to connect the ZEC (host, username, and remote source port), so you should write them down or keep this browser tab open while you configure the ZEC.
  5. Login to the ZEC UI (it could be a locally installed ZEC, e.g. http://localhost:4444 or a remote ZEC).
  6. Go to Settings > SSH Connections.

  7. Click Add connections.
  8. In the Host field, enter the host name that appeared in ZEN Master's Configuration section.

  9. Click Apply. The new connection is added to the list of SSH connections in ZEC.

  10. Click + to expand.
  11. Click Edit Credentials.

  12. In the User field, enter the username that appeared ZEN Master's Configuration section.

  13. In ZEC, in the Private Key field, click Upload Key and select the key that you have downloaded.
  14. Click Apply. The Key field will indicate OK.

  15. In ZEC, in click the Add button next to Remote Source Port.

  16. In the Remote Source Port field, enter the Remote Source Port that appeared ZEN Master's Configuration section.

  17. In ZEC, click OK.
  18. In ZEN Master, in the main navigation, click Zixi Edge Devices and check that the status of the newly connected ZEC has changed from Pending to OK.
