Connecting the Zixi Feeder (Zixi Feeder UI)

For each Zixi Feeder component that has been configured in ZEN Master, you will need to configure the connection of the Zixi Feeder (using its Zixi Feeder UI) to ZEN Master. This will use the configured SSH keys to enable the actual connection. This can either be done manually by entering the configuration settings into the Zixi Feeder UI, or automatically using the ZEN tab in the Zixi Feeder UI (for v12 Feeders).

If you are using an SSH Key that was imported from the Feeder (not generated in ZEN Master) then you will need to use the manual method to connect the Feeder to ZEN Master and not the automatic method.


To connect the Zixi Feeder Manually (for v11 and below):

  1. In the ZEN Master UI, in the main navigation, click Zixi Edge Devices.
  2. Select the Feeder that you would like to connect.
  3. In the Details tab at the bottom of the screen, click on the download link for the SSH Key.



  4. In the Configuration section, you will find your personal connection configuration settings for use with Feeders Version 1.11 and older . You will use these settings to connect the Zixi Feeder (host, username, and remote source port), so you should write them down or keep this browser tab open while you configure the Zixi Feeder.
  5. Login to the Zixi Feeder UI (it could be a locally installed Zixi Feeder, e.g. http://localhost:4200 or a remote Zixi Feeder).
  6. Go to Settings > SSH Tunnels.



  7. In the Key File field, click Upload Key and select the downloaded SSH key file.
  8. In the Host field, enter the host name that appeared in the Configuration Help.
  9. In the Username field, enter the username that appeared in the Configuration Help.
  10. Click Apply.
  11. In the Reverse Tunnels section (at the bottom) click Add.
    The Tunnel Details dialog opens:



  12. In the Remote Source Port field, enter the Remote Source Port that appeared in the Configuration Help.
  13. Click OK.
  14. In ZEN Master, in the main navigation, click Feeders and check that the status of the newly connected Zixi Feeder has changed from Pending to OK.



To connect the Zixi Feeder Automatically (for v12 and above):

  1. Login to the Zixi Feeder UI (it could be a locally installed Zixi Feeder, e.g. http://localhost:4200 or a remote Zixi Feeder).
  2. Click the ZEN tab. The ZEN login fields are displayed.



  3. In the Account ID field, enter the customer domain of your ZEN Master account (e.g. if you login to ZEN at demo.zen.zixi.com then your Account ID is 'demo').
  4. In the Email field, enter the username for your ZEN Master account.

  5. In the Password field, enter the password for your ZEN Master account.

  6. Click Login.
    A list of Feeders configured in ZEN Master is displayed.



  7. For the Feeder that you are adding, which should currently be in Pending mode, click Select.
    Details about the Feeder are shown in the Status section.
  8. Click Refresh.
    The connection is configured automatically.
  9. Verify that the Status is shown as On.



  10. In the ZEN Master UI, in the main navigation, click Feeders and check that the status of the newly connected Zixi Feeder has changed from Pending to OK.
