Creating a New AWS MediaConnect Flow Channel

To create a new MediaConnect Flow Channel:

1. In the main navigation, click Channels.
2. Click +Add.
   The Create New Channel selection menu is displayed.
   
3. Click on AWS MediaConnect Flow.
   The Create MediaConnect Flow window is displayed.
   
   
   
   
4. In the Info section, in the Name field, enter a logical name for the Channel.
5. In the Tags field, select one or more of the predefined Tags from the drop-down list.
   Tags are used for access control. By selecting an Tag, you are relating this Channel to that Tag. Tags are associated with certain roles (through the Users & Roles screen), and roles, in turn, are associated with users and user groups. If you would like to create a new Tag, see Creating a Tag.

6. In the Events Configuration Profile field, select from the dropdown list the profile that you would like to apply to this Channel. By default, the Default profile is applied.

   Events Profiles consist of a series of rules that determine precisely how various types of Events are logged and what results they trigger.

7. In the Configuration section, verify that Create New is selected (default).

8. In the AWS Account field, select from the drop-down list the AWS MediaConnect account that you would like to use for this Flow.

   If the Source does not exist in the cluster, then the cluster will pull the Source automatically.

9. In the Region  field, select from the drop-down list the AWS region that you would like to use for this Flow.

10. In the Availability Zone field, select from the drop-down list the Availability Zone that you would like to use for this Flow.

11. In the Source field, select from the drop-down list the AWS MediaConnect type Source that you would like to assign to this Channel.

    Specifying a Source is optional. You can create a Channel without assigning a Source, although it won’t be activated until you assign a Source at a later time. 12. Under VPC Interfaces, if you want to stream content between your Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and MediaConnect, without going over the public internet, click Add VPC Interface.  
    
    
    
    

13. In the Name field, enter a name for the VPC interface.

14. In the Type field, select the type of network adapter that you want MediaConnect to use on this interface.

15. In the Role ARN field, select the Role ARN of the IAM role that you have created when you set up MediaConnect as a trusted device.

16. In the Subnet field, select the VPC subnet that you want MediaConnect to use to set up your VPC configuration.

17. In the Security Groups field, select the relevant security groups and the inbound and outbound rules.

18. To add additional VPC interface, click Add VPC Interface.

19. Under the Media Streams section, click Add Media Stream to add a media stream to represent each component (e.g. video, audio, etc.) of the flow. Media streams can only be added to a flow if the Source uses the ST 2110-22 JPEG-XS or CDI protocols.
    
    
    
    
20. In the Name field, enter a name for the media stream.
21. In the Type field, select the relevant stream type (video, audio, ancillary data)
22. In the Stream ID field, enter a unique numeric identifier for this media stream.
23. In the Media Clock Rate field, select the clock rate in KHz for the stream. For video 90000 is selected; for audio, select between 48000 and 96000; for ancillary data 96000 is selected.
24. In the Video Format field, select the maximum format of the video (affects flow pricing).
25. In the Exact Framerate field, select the frame rate for the video (in frames per second).
26. In the Colorimetry field, select the format used for the representation of color.
27. In the Scan Mode field, select the type of compression used to smooth the video appearance.
28. In the TCS field, select the transfer characteristics system that is used in the video.
29. In the Range field, select the encoding range of the video.
30. In the PAR field, select the pixel aspect ration of the video.
31. To add additional Media Streams, click Add Media Stream.

32. In the Initial State section, select the Muted checkbox if you would like to disable error/recovery notifications for this Channel upon initial configuration.

    You can Unmute the Channel at any time.

33. Click Save.

    A MediaConnect Flow Channel can be assigned to a standard Target of the following types in ZEN Master: Push, Pull, RIST, RTP/RTP-FEC
