Creating a Map

You need to first create Maps in the system, each of which contains a set of objects to be shown on the Map display. Then, you can open the Map to see those objects displayed in their geographical locations.
The objects displayed on the Map are organized in layers, which can be shown or hidden together. Each Channel that is included in a Map constitutes a separate layer, including all objects associated with that Channel. You can also create custom layers that include any group of specific objects. For example, you can create a layer that shows all of your Broadcasters or you can create a layer that shows all objects related to a certain product. Related Video Tutorial
To create a new Map:
- In the main navigation, click Maps.
- Click + Add.
The Create New Map screen is displayed. - In the Info section, in the Name field, specify a name for the Map.
- In the Tags field, select one or more of the predefined Tags from the drop-down list.
Tags are used for access control. By selecting a Tag, you are relating this Map to that Tag. Tags are associated with certain roles (through the Users & Roles screen), and roles, in turn, are associated with users and user groups. If you would like to create a new Tag, see Creating a Tag. In the Configuration section, in the Default Region field, select from the drop-down list the default region for your assets. Available options are: Africa, Asia, Australia/Oceania, Europe, North America (default) or South America.
The default region will be used to position the marker if there is no IP based geolocation and you haven’t manually set the location for the asset.
- In the Default Style field, select from the drop-down list the default background style for this Map. Available options are: Street (default), Topographic, Dark or Light.
- Select the Cluster Markers checkbox if you would like the Map to cluster nearby Markers together as a single Marker.
- In the Channels section, in the MediaConnect Flows field, select from the drop-down list one or more of the MediaConnect Flows to be viewed as a layer on this map.
- In the Adaptive Channels field, select from the drop-down list one or more of the Adaptive Channels to be viewed as a layer on this map.
- In the Pass-Through Channels field, select from the drop-down list one or more of the Pass-Through Channels to be viewed as a layer on this map.
- In the Objects section, if you would like to add individual objects as a layer on this map, click + Add Layer.
The Objects fields are displayed.
Configure the layer as follows:- In the Layer Name field, specify a name for the layer.
- In the Feeders/Receivers/Broadcasters/Sources/MediaConnect Sources/Targets field, select from the drop-down lists one or more of the available objects to be added to this layer.
- If you would like to add an additional layer to the map, click + Add Layer.
- If you would like to add additional layers, repeat the previous procedure for each layer.
- Click Save.
