Configuring the Input Stream on VLC Player

You can test the setup by connecting with another machine in the network using a VLC player that includes the Zixi Plugin. For detailed information about how to install and configure the Zixi VLC plug in, refer to the Zixi VLC Plugin Guide.

To configure the input stream on VLC Player:

  1. In a different computer inside the network install the Zixi VLC Plugin.
  2. Open VLC Player.
  3. On the Main Menu, click Media
    Sub-menu options are displayed.
  4. Click Open Network Stream.
  5. In the URL field, enter a Zixi stream URL, which includes the Zixi Broadcaster details and channel name. You can reference your broadcaster IP or hostname in the Zixi URL.
  6. Click Play.
The stream will be played-back on the VLC player.

  7. To view the stream status on the Zixi Broadcaster, go to Settings > Multicast Pool. The stream should appear at the bottom of the page. If the multicast streaming was successful, the number of active multicast sessions should be greater than zero.
