Summary
The following are some of the main points covered in this guide:
For any object within the ZEN Master system, Warnings, Errors, and Alert Notification Emails, are controlled by the Event Profile.
An Event Profile contains a table of rules dictating how the ZEN Master alerting system reacts to each of the various state changes of resources and streaming objects.
These profiles are not actually applied until they are associated with the various resources or streaming components within ZEN Master during the object's configuration.
Each rule can be edited independently, depending on the rule type any issue being caught by the rule can be:
Completely ignored and disabled.
Entered in the Event Log without impact the status of the object or generating alerts.
Elevated to a warning based on the number of events within a time window or some defined threshold.
Escalated to a full error when the event count reaches a defined number, or an upper threshold is reached.
Editing a rule and saving will propagate the change to all objects actively using the profile. Applying a new profile will update the rule of all selected objects. Neither change will interrupt an active stream or cause a restart.
Email notifications are generated on Error or Ok Status changes. Each of which can be independently disabled in each rule of the Event Profile.
Alert notification emails are sent only to Users or Groups assigned to Roles with email receipt permissions (see Account Management documentation) on a given object.
