Zixi Broadcaster can receive Inputs from a variety of sources such as a Zixi Feeders or Zixi enabled encoders. The Inputs can be received through “push” or “pull” interactions and can be delivered using a wide range of protocols. While configuring an Input in Broadcaster you can customize the stream configuration.

For this tutorial the Broadcaster is receiving a Push input from your Zixi Feeder using Zixi Protocol. In this case, the stream is initiated by the Zixi Feeder while the Zixi Broadcaster remains in “listening mode” until the stream is initiated. We will create a Push Input in your Zixi Broadcaster using the default configuration settings.

The following procedure describes how to manually create a Push Input on the Broadcaster. You can configure your Broadcaster to automatically allow Push Inputs. Once this feature is enabled, when you create a "Push to Broadcaster" Output on your Feeder, the corresponding Push Input is automatically created on the Broadcaster. To enable automatic Push Inputs, see Authorization in the Zixi Broadcaster UG.

To create a Push Input on the Broadcaster:

  1. In the Zixi Broadcaster UI, in the Main Navigation, click Inputs.
    The Inputs page opens.

  2. On the Inputs page, click the +New Input button in the Menu bar.

The Add a new input stream window is displayed.

  3. In the Stream ID field, enter the precise Stream ID (case sensitive) that you assigned to the Output that you created on the Feeder in Step 3, e.g. SampleTSStream01.

  4. For the stream type selection, verify that the Push radio button is selected (default).

To learn more about additional configuration options, see Adding Push Streams in the Zixi Broadcaster UG.

5. Click OK.
The “Input added” message appears on the top of the screen.
The new Input is added to the Zixi Broadcaster and now appears in the list of streams available on the Inputs screen. After a few seconds the Input Status should be Connected (green).

In the Feeder UI, on the Outputs page, the Output Status should now be Connected (green).
