Multicast streaming is disabled by default and should be enabled. It is highly recommended to change the default multicast address to a different range that does not conflict with another Zixi Broadcaster or Multicast Broadcaster range on your network.
Warning
Make sure your network supports multicast before enabling multicast settings in Zixi Broadcaster.
To enable multicast settings:
- In Zixi Broadcaster, go to Settings > Multicast Pool.
The Multicast Pool screen is displayed. - Under Configuration, select the Enabled
- In the Address field, enter a multicast IP range in CIDR format. For example, type 225.5.0.0 / 16 configures the following multicast address range: 225.5.0.0 ~ 225.5.255.255. This is the multicast IP address range that the Zixi Broadcaster will use to stream the various streams. Multicast addresses are not related to a specific stream in a static manner. Instead, each of these multicast addresses is dynamically allocated to the various input streams. All streams will use the same port (default: 5000) and use the consecutive IP within the range (e.g. 225.22.0.0, 225.22.0.1, etc.).
- In the Port field, enter the port that will be shared by all the members of the multicast pool. Default: 5000.
- In the NIC field, select the network card to use for the outgoing multicast traffic.
- In the TTL field, enter the Time To Live.
- Click Apply.
The following dialog is displayed: Click Restart Now or Restart Later.
Warning
Schedule downtime before restarting if running other production streams on same Zixi Broadcaster server.
