The preview is played back directly from the Zixi Broadcaster and can be used to preview the stream before any channel Channel processing. The playback is only possible when the session is active. This means that you must be logged in to view the content.
You can choose between two viewing modes:
- High Resilience – uses relatively high latency setting (4 seconds) for the Zixi protocol to provide very good resiliency for any network conditions.
- Low Latency – uses low latency (500ms including VLCs latency requirements), for situations that require viewing the Source as close to real-time as possible. This mode can only be used when the Network supports that level of performance.
For Manual scaling clusters with broadcasters that are configured with a private IP, you can select whether the private IP or public IP is used for viewing the preview.

The first time that you view a Source preview you will need to ensure that the VLC player is installed with the Zixi plugin. The landing page has links to install the player and plugin if needed. |
To view a Source preview in VLC:
- In the Details section for the desired Source, click on the Play button.
You are redirected to the Source preview landing page.
- In the Mode section, select the latency mode. Options are: Low Latency or High Resilience.
- In the Network section, select the type of network that is used for viewing the preview. Options are: Public or Private.
Click Play.
The preview is shown in VLC.Info Your button selections on the landing page are saved in the browser and will be remembered from session to session in that browser. Also, you only need to click the “Play” button on the landing page the first time you view the page. The next time you preview a Source, the browser will go to the landing page and start the playback sequence automatically. If you want to change the settings, you can close VLC, causing the landing page to be shown again.
Info You can share the link for the landing page with other ZEN Master users. If they are already logged in to ZEN Master the landing page will open on their browser and they can click Play. If they are not logged in, they will be taken to the ZEN Master login page first and then to the Source preview landing page after logging in.
