Zixi Player Guide Home

The Zixi Player mobile app can play live video over IP in real-time with low latency. Zixi Player uses Zixi's own adaptive streaming protocol and is a first-ever adaptive bitrate player at sub-GOP latency. Zixi Player works exclusively with a Zixi Broadcaster.

Supported Codecs

The player uses the existing hardware decoders on the device.

Supported codecs for iOS:

  • Video: H264 and HEVC, progressive only

  • Audio: AAC, MP3, AC-3, Opus​

Interlaced video and MPEG1 Layer 2 audio are not supported.

Supported codecs for Android:

  • Video: H264; additional video codecs are dependent on the specific model.

  • Audio: AAC; additional video codecs are dependent on the specific model.
