AWS Media – Non-Zixi Input

The instructions below refer to the parameters in some of the Non-Zixi Input protocols, for a full list of parameters, see MEDIACONNECT – NON-ZIXI INPUT SOURCE CONFIGURATION PARAMETERS TABLE.

To create a AWS Media Source with a non-Zixi input:

  1. In the main navigation, click Sources.
  2. Click + Add.
The Create New Source window is displayed.
  3. Under AWS Media, choose either AWS Media Connect or AWS Elemental Link.
The Create New AWS Media Source window opens.
  4. In the Info section, in the Name field, type a logical name for the Zixi Source.
  5. In the Tags field, select one or more of the predefined Tags from the drop-down list.
Tags are used for access control. By selecting a Tag, you are relating this Source to that Tag. Tags are associated with certain roles (through the Users & Roles screen), and roles, in turn, are associated with users and user groups. If you would like to create a new Tag, see Creating a Tag.
  6. In the Events Configuration Profile field, select from the dropdown list the profile that you would like to apply to this Source. By default, the Default profile is applied.

Events Profiles consist of a series of rules that determine precisely how various types of Events are logged and what results they trigger.

  7. In the Input section, under Protocol, select the radio button for the desired non-Zixi Protocol. Options are: RTC-FEC, RTP, RIST, SRT, CDI (for MediaConnect only), ST2110 JPEG XS (for MediaConnect only). and AWS Elemental Link

If you would like to configure a Zixi input, use the procedure described in AWS Media – Zixi Input

  8. In the Ingest Port field (not shown for ST 2110 JEPF XS inputs), enter the port that the Flow will listen on for incoming content.
  9. In the Max Bitrate field (not shown for CDI or ST 2110 JEPF XS inputs), select from the drop-down list the maximum bitrate for this Source.

Make sure that the value is greater than the max bitrate of the input. The default is set automatically based on the current bitrate of the input.

  10. In the Latency [ms] field (for RIST and SRT inputs), select the latency time for the stream (default 4000).
  11. In the Max sync buffer [ms] field (for CDI and ST 2110 JPEG XS inputs), use the arrow buttons to specify the size of the buffer (in ms) to use to sync incoming source data.

  12. If you selected AWS MediaLive Channel, proceed to step 15. In the Source Configuration section, in the Channel Type field (not shown for CDI and ST 2110 JPEG XS inputs), select AWS MediaConnect Flow or AWS MediaLive Channel.

Specifying an AWS MediaConnect Flow or MediaLive Channel is optional. You can create a Source without specifying a Flow that will be activated later upon assigning a MediaConnect Flow or assigning a MediaLive Channel created in Zen Master. You can also switch an AWS Media Source to a different Flow at a later time.

  13. In the AWS MediaConnect Flow field, select the Flow to which you would like to assign this Source from the drop-down list of AWS MediaConnect Flows.
  14. If you selected AWS MediaLive Channel, select the AWS MediaLive Channel to which you would like to assign this Source from the drop-down list of available AWS MediaLive Channels
  15. In the Whitelist CIDR block field (not shown for CDI and ST 2110 JPEG XS inputs), enter the CIDR for the range of IPs that you would like to allow to contribute content to this Source.
  16. In the Initial State section, select the Muted checkbox if you would like to disable error/recovery notifications for this Source upon initial configuration. You can Unmute the Source at any time.

  17. If you would like to adjust the advanced settings, click Advanced.

The Advanced settings fields are displayed:

  18. In the Auto Pull MTU field, specify the maximum transmission unit (largest data packet that a network-connected device will accept) in bytes for the Auto Pull.
  19. To set the detection of frozen video, in the Frozen Video Minimal Duration field, specify the default minimal duration in seconds of frozen video after which the Broadcaster will trigger a Frozen video alert. Default: 10 seconds. This setting is supported for Broadcaster version 16.3 and higher.
  20. To set the detection of blank video, in the Blank Video Minimal Duration field, specify the default minimal duration in seconds of blank video after which the Broadcaster will trigger a Blank video alert. Default: 10 seconds. This setting is supported for Broadcaster version 16.3 and higher.
  21. Click Save.

An AWS Media Source is a specialized type of Source in ZEN Master. It can’t be assigned to a regular ZEN Master Channel, rather it must be assigned to a MediaConnect Flow Channel. See Adding MediaConnect Flow Channels.
