Adding a New Zixi Feeder

The following procedure describes how to add a Zixi Feeder in ZEN Master. In addition, an explanation of each of the configuration parameters is given in the table below.

To add a Zixi Feeder:

1. In the main navigation, click Zixi Edge Devices.
2. Click + Add.
3. Click Feeder. The Create New Feeder screen is displayed:
   
   
   
   
4. In the Info section, in the Name field, type a logical name for the Zixi Feeder.
5. In the Access Tags field, select one or more of the predefined Access Tags from the drop-down list.
   Access Tags are used for access control. By selecting an Access Tag you are relating this Feeder to that Access Tag. Access Tags are associated with certain roles (through the Users & Roles screen), and roles, in turn, are associated with users and user groups. If you would like to create a new Access Tag, see Creating an Access Tag.

6. In the Events Configuration Profile field, select from the dropdown list the profile that you would like to apply to this Feeder. By default, the Default profile is selected.

   Events Profiles consist of a series of rules that determine precisely how various types of Events are logged and what results they trigger.

7. The Feeder's location is used to represent it in the proper position in the Map display (see Maps). By default, the location is determined automatically based on the Feeder's IP. If you would like to manually set the location of the Feeder (Optional), use the following procedure:
   1. Click on the Edit icon next to the Location field.
      A search box is shown below the Location field.
   2. Enter identifying info for the location (e.g. street address, zip code, coordinates).
      Search results are displayed below the search box as you type.
   3. Click on the desired location.
      The selected location populates the Location field.
8. In the Configuration section, in the API User field, enter the username for accessing the Zixi Feeder instance. This enables ZEN Master to use the API to monitor and manage the Zixi Feeder instance. (Default value: admin)
9. In the API Password field, enter the password for accessing the Zixi Feeder. The default password on Zixi Feeders is 1234. Unless you have changed the password for this Feeder, enter 1234 in this field.

10. In the SSH Key field, select from the drop-down list one of the existing remote access keys to be used for SSH tunneling between the Zixi Feeder and ZEN Master.

11. Select the Termination protection checkbox if you would like to 
12. In the Initial State section, select the Disabled checkbox if you would like to disable this Feeder upon initial configuration.

13. Select the Muted checkbox if you would like to disable error/recovery notifications for this Feeder upon initial configuration.

    You can Enable/Unmute the Feeder at any time.

14. Click Save.
    The Feeder is configured and will remain in Pending state until you configure the initial connection to the Zixi Feeder, see Connecting the Zixi Feeder (Zixi Feeder UI).
