The main display view includes the following data and actions for each channel:

Info

It is possible to add more columns to the list. If you want to view resources that were marked as Priority, add the Priority column and sort by it. 


Parameter

Description

Name

The name of the Channel.

Status

Shows the status of the Channel. Possible statuses are:

  • Green – OK
  • Red – error state
  • Pink (shown together with a checkmark) – acknowledged error state
  • Yellow – Warning (recovered from error event)
  • Gray – pending/disabled 

The icon next to a channel indicates that the Channel is muted, disabling notifications for error/recovery events.

Proc. Cluster

The name of the Channel Processing cluster that is used for the Channel.

BroadcasterThe name of the Broadcaster that is used for the Channel.

Type

The type of Channel, possible types are:

  • Adaptive Channel – combines multiple Sources to create a unified HLS stream for output to an HTTP, S3, MediaStore, Azure Blob or GCP Target.
  • Transcoded Channel – transcodes a single Source to multiple bitrates for output to an HTTP, S3, MediaStore, Azure Blob or GCP Target.
  • Pass-through Channel – sends the Source to an output.

Sources

The number of Sources assigned to the Channel and their statuses. For single Source Channels the name of the Source is displayed.

Targets

The number of output Targets and their statuses.

Actions on a Channel:

On the upper right side of the Info Pane, the following actions are visible: 

  • Mute/Unmute – disables/activates notification for error/recovery events. Set the date and time when the mute will automatically be cleared by clicking on the down arrow and selecting mute until.
  • Edit - Enables you to edit the Channel configuration.
  • Clone -Create an additional Channel based on the settings of the selected Channel.
  • Disable/ Enable -Disabling a channel stops all active streams for that channel without deleting the configuration of the Channel.
  • Delete - deletes the Channel configuration for the selected Channel

    When a Channel is selected, the list pane is minimized and detailed info about the selected Channel is shown on the right side of the screen. The info can be shown in Tab view or Panels view, see Info Pages.

    When a channel is selected, the following sections are shown in the Info pane:

    • Details – configuration details of the selected Channel.
    • Diagram – This tab shows a schematic diagram of the system elements associated with the Channel.
    • Bitrates (for Adaptive and Transcoded channels) – shows details about the Sources/transcoding profiles that are used and their bitrates.
    • Sources – shows the thumbnails of the Sources that are associated with the selected Channel. For more information, see Viewing Thumbnail Grid Display.
    • Content Analysis – Shows a list of streaming errors that occurred on this Channel. 
    • History – The History section shows a graphic display of the Channel's activity and performance over time. 
    • Targets – Shows data about Targets that receive the selected Channel. You can also add Targets to a Channel on this tab.
    • Events – all the related events that have been generated by the system, such as connections, errors, warnings and disconnections. To learn about the data that is displayed in the Events tab see Events. Click Quick Report to generate a report of events related to this Source and download the .xls file. 
    • Change Tracking– Change Tracking displays the history of changes that were made to the Source’s configuration. For more information, see  Change Tracking.
    • Notes – free-form text can be added with pertinent information about this Channel.
    Info

    There is an additional tab, SCTE-35, that is shown for relevant Channels. If the stream in an Adaptive or Transcoded Channel includes SCTE-35 markers, then information about these markers is shown in the SCTE-35 tab.
