Zixi can be be deployed to pull parallel redundant sources to two targets. This topology includes two simultaneous streams pulled in parallel from two separate source nodes to a corresponding pair of redundant targets. The streams are pulled in parallel by the two redundant targets. If , creating two redundant paths to the destination. Two distinctly named outputs are created at the source Zixi Broadcasters. Each output is configured to stream to one of the redundant Zixi Receivers. If the latency of the Inputs is identical, the streams will be frame synced providing they video is synced at the source.

Source Configuration
To configure the primary source node (e.g. Zixi ReceiverBroadcaster):
- On the Inputsthe Outputs page of the primary Zixi Receiver, click on Broadcaster, click New Output on the upper- right end corner of the screen.
- In the Output Name field, type a new name for the output.
- In the Input Stream field, select the relevant input stream.
- Select the PushPull option.
- In the Output Parameters section, under Links, enter enter the details of the target, including:
The target Host - Specify the destination Broadcaster Zixi Receiver name or IP address to which you are pushing the stream.
The Port number - Specify the ports to listen on for Push streams. Default - 2088
Target IP - - Set the desired Max Latency in milliseconds.
- Click OK to create the primary output,.
To configure the secondary source node (e.g. Zixi FeederBroadcaster):
- On the Outputs page of secondary Zixi FeederBroadcaster, click on New Output on the upper- right end corner of the screen..
- In the Output Name field, type the same a new name used for the primary output.
- In the Output Parameters section, under Links, enter the same section enter the details of the primary secondary target, including:
The target Host - Specify the destination Broadcaster Zixi Receiver name or IP address to which you are pushing the stream (secondary target).
The Port number - Specify the ports to listen on for Push streams. Default - 2088 Target IP - - Set the desired Max Latency in milliseconds
Click OK.
Target Configuration
To configure the primary target node (e.g. Zixi Broadcaster/ Receiver):
- Click the Inputs tab at the top of the Zixi Broadcaster Receiver administrative screen
- Click New Input on the upper right hand side of the screen.
- Select the Push Pull option.
- Create an input at the primary target, ensuring the “Stream ID” matches that of the primary and secondary sources outputIn the Host field, enter the name of the primary source host Zixi Broadcaster.
- In the Port field, enter the port number as configured in the primary Zixi Broadcaster.
- In the Stream field, enter the stream ID as configured in the primary Zixi Broadcaster.
- Configure additional parameters as required.
- Click OK.
To configure the secondary target node (e.g. Zixi Receiver):
- Click the Inputs tab at the top of the Zixi Receiver administrative screen
- Click New Input on the upper right hand side of the screen.
- Select the Pull option.
- In the Host field, enter the name of the secondary source host Zixi Broadcaster.
- In the Port field, enter the port number as configured in the secondary Zixi Broadcaster.
- In the Stream field, enter the stream ID as configured in the secondary Zixi Broadcaster.
- Configure additional parameters as required.
- Click OK.
Cost Considerations
This topology duplicates the source Zixi hardware and software components. It does not require doubling the uplink bandwidth as the backup connection stream is only active in the event that the primary fails.
Latency Considerations
Primary Connection loss =
Retry cycle =
Connection to secondary =
Total recovery Time =
