The History tab shows a graphic display of the Target connection activity over time. Data is shown on separate line graphs for each topic that is relevant for the selected Target. Click on the section headings to expand/collapse the graph display.
Each graph shows color coded lines indicating the events that occurred over time. A key indicating the colors used to represent various types of data is shown below each graph.
The graphs have the following functionality:
Set the time range of the display either by selecting one of the preset time ranges or by entering a custom time range. (Default: Last 24 hr)
Info One year of history is saved in the ZEN Master database even though the graphs show larger timeframes. Contact Zixi if you require more than one year of history.
- Manually refresh graph data or set the automatic refresh frequency.
- Hover over a point on the graph to show the total values for that time.
- Click and drag the cursor over a time range to zoom in on that time range.
- Double click on the graph to zoom out on the graph (i.e. expand the time range).
Click on the title of a data element in the key to display only that element.
Info ZEN Master treats all graphs as a single component so that the zoom time range set for one graph is automatically applied to all graphs on that screen. Similarly, when you hover over a point on one graph, the tool-tip values are shown for the same point in time on all of the graphs.
Info The granularity of the graph depends on the zoom level. Most graphs can zoom in to a resolution of one datapoint per minute.
The following sections describe the various graphs that are shown in the History tab. Click on the section header to show/hide the graph.
Network
This graph shows network activity (recovered and not recovered packets, reconnections, RTT and Jitter) over time.
Packet Delivery %
For streams sent from a Zixi Broadcaster (v13 and up) to a Zixi Receiver (v13 and up), this graph shows the percentage of successfully delivered packets for each PID over time.

Dropped packets for video or audio PIDs degrade the video or audio stream. Dropped packets for Ad markers (SCTE-35) interfere with proper loading and display of the ads. |
The graph also shows the percentage of delivered packets over time for each PID.
Traceroute
For streams sent from a Zixi Feeder to a Zixi Broadcaster (v13 or above) or from a Broadcaster to a Receiver, this tab show historical traceroutes that have been used for this stream. The graph shows RTTs for each server used by the stream over time.
If there are persistent large round trip times through particular servers, a network reconfiguration may be necessary to alleviate the issue.

When configuring a Source in ZEN Master, the Traceroute History feature is not activated by default. If you would like to activate Traceroute History for a particular Source you can do so by selecting the Traceroute History checkbox in the advanced configuration options. This can be done during the initial configuration or you can edit an existing Source. |
